How long is a session?
90 minutes — 45 mins drawing, 45 mins butler service.
What is the model wearing?
A small apron and nothing else. Professional and cheeky.
Do we need to be able to draw?
Not at all. The worse the drawings, the better the judging.
Where does it take place?
At your venue. The butler travels to you anywhere in the UK.
The session runs for 90 minutes. The first 45 minutes are proper life drawing — your butler poses while everyone sketches him freehand. The second 45 minutes are a mini butler service: he puts on a small apron, takes drink orders, chats with the group and helps judge the drawings. It is part art class, part entertainment, entirely memorable.
During the life drawing portion, the butler wears a small apron and nothing else. It is cheeky but professional. During the mini butler section, the format stays the same. He handles the whole experience with confidence and good humour.
The standard session is 90 minutes: 45 minutes of life drawing and 45 minutes of mini butler service. Many groups add extra butler time. Just mention this when you request a quote.
Not at all. The experience is designed to be fun, not technically impressive. The worse the drawings, the better the judging. Most groups are drawing for the first time since school, and that is exactly how it should be.
Yes. Photography is welcome throughout, particularly during the mini butler section. Please be thoughtful about what gets shared publicly — the butler is a professional and deserves the same consideration you would extend to any service provider.
Sessions work for groups from 4 to 20+. The ideal size is 8–14. For larger groups, mention your headcount when requesting a quote and we will advise on setup.

For summer weekends (May–September), 6–8 weeks ahead is sensible. Off-peak, 3–4 weeks is usually fine. The earlier you book, the more choice you have over butler and time slot.
Yes. A deposit is required at the time of booking to secure your date and butler. The balance is due closer to the event. The booking team will confirm the payment schedule when you get your quote.
Cancellation terms are set by Butlers in the Buff and will be confirmed at the time of booking. The general principle is that cancellations within a short window of the event may forfeit the deposit.
Date changes are usually possible subject to butler availability for the new date. Contact the Butlers in the Buff booking team as early as possible if you need to move.
At your accommodation or venue. The butler travels to you — you do not need to hire a separate space. An Airbnb, holiday let, or private room in a hotel or pub all work well.
A room large enough for everyone to sit in a loose circle, each with space to hold drawing paper or rest it on a surface. For 8–10 people, 20–30 square metres is comfortable. Ground-floor or lift access is needed for the butler.
Drinks for the group (the butler serves these during the mini butler section) and a firm surface for each person to rest drawing paper on — a clipboard, a book, or a tray all work. Everything else is included: paper, pencils, rubbers, sharpeners and the butler himself.
Yes. Butlers in the Buff operate nationwide across England, Scotland and Wales. There may be a travel charge for locations outside the major city centres — this will be confirmed in your quote.
Outdoor sessions are possible in good weather, but the experience works better indoors where lighting is consistent and there are no weather variables. If you are planning an outdoor session, mention it in your quote request.
Yes. All Butlers in the Buff models are vetted, trained and experienced specifically in hen party settings. They handle the experience with professionalism, confidence and good humour — and they are very good at putting nervous groups at ease.
Completely normal. The butler is experienced at managing this. The life drawing format gives everyone something to focus on, which takes the edge off the initial awkwardness quickly. Most groups who describe themselves as reserved are the ones laughing loudest by the judging.
You can note preferences when requesting a quote, though availability on your specific date determines what is possible. The Butlers in the Buff team will do their best to match you appropriately.
He takes drink orders, serves the group, joins in games, chats with guests and presides over the judging of the drawings. He is an entertainer, not a passive presence. Most groups describe this section as the highlight of the weekend.
